Job Description
Responsibilities overall:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior General Accountant to join our Global business services operations of Finance team to be leading accounting process for different countries in Hitachi Zosen Inova group, all that out of Slovakia.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and standards. The Senior General Accountant will play a key role in financial reporting, analysis, and budgeting processes.
Responsibilities overall:
- Perform, Manage and Oversee the daily operations of the Double entry / Book keeping / Accounting process, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed assets and payroll,
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulations,
- Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts,
- Coordinate and liaise with external auditors during financial audits,
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff,
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices,
- Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and standards.
Responsibilities in detail:
- Support to Accounts payable and able to Accounting of invoices received or other relevant documents, including ensuring the circulation of these accounting documents,
- Accounting for and handling of dispatched invoices or changes and credit notes,
- Posting of bank statements,
- Accounting for assets,
- Accounting for accrued expenses,
- Preparing and accounting for accruals,
- Project cost allocations,
- Posting of travel expense forms,
- Balance sheet reconciliation process
- Complete administration of the accounting and financial part of the local ERP system,
- Tax / VAT administration and communication in coordination with Tax team (CIT, payroll tax, VAT, tax audits)
- Communication with third party consultants in the field of VAT administration,
- Any other accounting/financial tasks as requested by management
- Statistical and other reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in accounting roles
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards (IFRS preferred).
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
A detailed flowchart and allocation of tasks within the department will be maintained by
and updated by the Line Manager.
